Student Support
Special Education & Learning Support
Accommodations, individualized learning plans, and intervention — built around a student’s documented needs and coordinated with the plan they already have, so a child who learns differently is met where they are.
The Approach
Special education, planned around your child
Students do not all arrive the same, and a good school plans for that. At Discovery Preparatory Academy, learning support is planned individually — accommodations, individualized learning plans, academic intervention, and one-to-one help — and matched to each student’s documented needs.
If your student already has an IEP or 504 plan, an evaluation, or a diagnosis, we build their day around it and coordinate with you over time. Support follows the student across the Academy’s schools, academies, and programs, wherever they learn.
What It Provides
Three ways support shows up
Accommodations & learning plans
Classroom accommodations and an individualized learning plan built from documented needs — and aligned to an existing IEP or 504 plan where a student has one.
Intervention & monitoring
Reading and academic intervention, curriculum modifications, and progress monitoring that tracks whether the support is actually working.
Coordination & success planning
Teacher support, student-success planning, and family coordination — keeping everyone, including outside providers, working from the same plan.
Honest About the Fit
What we provide — and what we coordinate
We want families to enroll with clear expectations, so here is exactly how our support works.
What we provide
- Classroom accommodations and modifications
- Individualized learning plans, reviewed over time
- Reading and academic intervention
- One-to-one and small-group support
- Progress monitoring and success planning
- Coordination with families, teachers, and outside providers
What we coordinate, not replace
- We work alongside a student’s existing IEP or 504 plan — we do not author legally binding IEPs.
- As a private academy, we do not replace the special-education services a public school district is required to provide.
- We do not conduct formal special-education eligibility evaluations, but we can point families to qualified evaluators.
- Therapies such as speech, occupational, or behavioral therapy are coordinated with your outside providers.
Support, services, and eligibility are determined individually and coordinated with each family. Our team is glad to review your student’s documentation — an IEP, 504 plan, evaluation, or diagnostic report — and explain the support that may be available through Discovery Preparatory Academy.
